Getting Started

API Key

Important: Usage of the JavaScript Maps API requires an API Key. If you do not already have one, please sign up for a MapQuest Developer Network account to receive a key.

Assumptions

You understand the basics of the JavaScript language.
You understand the limitations of DOCTYPEs and browser compatibility modes.

Official Browser Support

These browsers are officially supported, however most current browsers using the Webkit or Gecko rendering engines should function properly.

Current version of Safari
Current version of Chrome

In addition, mobile browsers on the following operating systems are supported:

Android 4.x

Features

drawing control is now available, which includes the ability for users to add drawing tools to an application -- drawing tools support shapes, lines, and the ability to move or delete shapes that have been drawn on the map.

Enhancement

formatting of traffic incident descriptions in the traffic module has been updated to improve readability.

Bug Fixes

leader lines being left on map when removing objects from a shapeCollection on Internet Explorer.

when zoom on double-click is enabled, shape overlays are made invisible in some instances when double-clicking while the map is at the maximum zoom level.

polygon fill color is not always maintained when fill color is set.

calling map.removeShape() does not work until map is redrawn.

dragging a waypoint on a draggable route does not always update the route.

shapeOverlay.setVisible() does not always update the visibility of an overlay.

incorrect path for SSL icons is provided in some instances.
