OpenData
I just noticed that a lot have changed here. I used to use the Free & Open plan, mostly because I need open data - data I can cache and store.
I see that my plan hasn't been converted, but it still works exactly like it used to. I currently have more calls per month than the free plan offers, but I can handle that by turning of geocoding, as I only need the routing.
The Open part, where I can store the data in my own database is what's important. Am I still allowed to do that after this change? Or do I have to look around for a new routing service?
That was okay with the Open API, because the data was open in the first place... So that is not okay anymore?
I never got any notifications about that, would have expected that. But okay, guess I have to find another provider now then.
Thanks for the service as long as it lasted :)
But I still use the Open Directions, meaning I get data from OSM. Isn't that data still open?
To make it 100% clear: I use open data through the MapQuest OpenApi, may or may I not cache that data?
I don't get this. The OSM License states:
Doesn't that mean that the data I get from the Open Directions API are open too?
I understand that there is a limit on the number of requests now. But my question is still: may I cache the data (specifically: the route points, not turn by turn directions)?
As far as I can read from the OSM license, I should be allowed to, shouldn't I?
MQBrian, it seems? Did you find a source of information? Would be glad to read it!
